abstract={A preliminary treatment of a social creativity is presented that aims to be {`}mechanism independent{'} in the sense that it could equally well describe the behavior of simulated societies of computational agents or the embodied behavior of humans engaging in commons-based peer production. The idea of project-embedded problem solving is used as a connection between these two domains. Mathematical thinking provides an inspiring example, and the methodology that is proposed is an interpretation of the highly heterodox interdisciplinary theory of design patterns.},
